Man United, Chelsea & Arsenal stars in the free agent XI
The free agent XI
As the summer transfer window opens, Spanish daily AS have looked into the best free agent XI available this summer.
For the avoidance of doubt, the team is comprised solely of players who see their current contracts expire at the end of the campaign.
It’s possible that some of the players listed below may sign on at their current employers, however, it’s also possible that these players move to new clubs instead.
So who is available?
Starting in goal, Iker Casillas is back on the market after his contract with FC Porto ends. The former Real Madrid stopper has previously been linked to Liverpool, however that seems unlikely.
At the back, Alvaro Arbeloa is available for free after his contract at West Ham expires, while, staying in the Premier League,Chelsea’s John Terry and Man City’s Gael Clichy are now without clubs.
Finally at the back, Real Madrid’s Pepe is out of contract, while he’s tipped to join Inter Milan.
Midfield three
Arsenal’s Santi Cazorla missed most of the season with injury, so will the Gunners offer the Spaniard a new deal this summer?
According to reports on Monday, Man City are close to agreeing a new deal with Yaya Toure as his contract runs down.
The last midfielder up for grabs is Roma and Italy legend Daniele De Rossi.
Front three
The final three players in the free agent XI are Man City’s Jesus Navas, Man United’s Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Nice attacker Mario Balotelli.
The full XI is below.
