He said the group was committed to defending the defenseless, assuring that it would not tolerate any form of infringement on the fundamental human rights of Deltans by security agencies even as he called on all to put all hands on deck to rid the state of social ills. In the same vein, Delta Central coordinator of the group, Comrade Umukoro Efemena, said the rally was part of its efforts to sensitize Deltans on the need to know their rights to avoid being victims of harassment by security operatives. He said: “This rally is meant to enlighten Deltans about their fundamental human rights so that they can stand their ground whenever there is perceived harassment by security agencies. We are doing this rally because many Deltans do not know their rights and that is the reason why security personnel harass them on daily basis. Rights group campaign against social vices in Delta "This harassment must stop and the only way it will stop is when Deltans know their fundamental human rights. If you know your right, nobody will harass you. So the police and all the security agencies should respect human rights so that our people can move freely in the state without any fear of harassment because, in reality, they are there to protect the lives and property of the citizens."

Umukoro said in as much as CDHR was out to defend the fundamental rights of the citizens, Nigerians should not see it as yardstick to disobey constituted authority, warning that any individual or group found wanting in these regard, it would not hesitate prosecute them. He, therefore, called on all citizens to be law abiding, shun every form of anti-social vices like cultism, kidnapping, child abuse, extra judicial killings, vandalization of pipelines among others so that Delta State could become a crime-free society. Meanwhile, Nigerians have lamented the pain the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has brought to the country. Watch this video
