Digital advocacy rights and social enterprise organization Paradigm Initiative has expressed concern over the Nigerian military's approach to monitoring activities of Nigerians online. This was brought about by comments that came out from the now discontinued Twitter handle @Defensemonitor . This is in view of the statements the handle made in its tweet bothering on how they were going to go about monitoring Nigerians online for anti-government and hate speeches. The Twitter handle is believed to be affiliated with the Nigerian Defence Headquarters, who have not come out to deny being responsible for the handle.    HeritageBank to acquire Enterprise Bank in N56BN deal T he final step in the acquisition of Enterprise bank was the purchase of the company’s fully-paid-up ordinary shares valued at about N56.1 billion by Heritage Bank. The Board of Directors of the Asset Management Corporation of Nigeria (AMCON) has granted its permission for the acquisition of Enterprise Bank by Heritage Bank . AMCON stated that the final step in the acquisition of Enterprise bank was the purchase of the company’s fully-paid-up ordinary shares valued at about N56.1 billion by Heritage Bank . The sale was conducted via a bidding process and HBCL Investment Services Limited, a subsidiary of Heritage Bank , emerged as the preferred bidder. The transaction has received final approval from AMCON asides from other necessary approvals by the relevant regulatory authorities, including the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) and the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).

The President of the court, Mrs Yemisi Ojo, ordered that Ojo, a father of three, who rejected the judgment of the court in a matter between him and his wife, Yemisi, kneel for disrespecting the court. The judge had ordered that Ajayi, who was the defendant in the matter, be arrested for saying that he would not accept the court’s judgment that the children be in the custody of the complainant. The court also ordered the man to pay N10, 000 monthly for the upkeep of the children and in addition be responsible for the payment of their school fees. NAFDAC Donates Chairs To NYSC in Anambra State

The National Agency for Food and Drugs Administration Agency (NAFDAC),have donated 100 plastic chairs to the National Youths Service Corps (NYSC), Anambra State. The Chairs were handed over by Mrs Yetunde Oni, to the beneficiary in Akwa said the gesture was part of efforts to ameliorate the plight of corps members in the zone and deepen the partnership between the two agencies. Oni, who was represented by Dr Fori Tatama, South East Zonal Coordinator of NAFDAC said it had earlier donated another set of 100 chairs to the Enugu state command of the NYSC. She said that the NYSC was strategic to the achievement of NAFDAC’s objective of zero counterfeiting of drugs because of its reach across the country. T he Economic and Financial Crimes Commission ( EFCC ) has fingered two governors in the misapplication of Paris Club Refund.  Already, a mortgage firm has returned to EFCC N500 million said to be part of the Paris Club refund kept with it by one of the governors. The EFCC is probing the London-Paris Club refund following allegations that some governors are misapplying the cash. The Federal Government agreed to the refund to enable the governors pay workers’ salaries and pensions. Besides, the EFCC has gone to a Federal High Court in Abuja to seek the forfeiture of $3million said to be held for another governor by three persons and two companies. The agency has placed a no debit order on the three accounts traced to the five suspects, including a member of the House of Representatives, who has gone underground to avoid arrest. This is contained in a statement released in Kano on Tuesday by DSP Magaji Majiya, the Police Public Relations Officer in the state. Yusuf gave the assurance on Monday at a meeting with the leadership of the Igbo community in the state.
