Chelsea admit Eden Hazard out for months after ankle surgery

Chelsea have confirmed Eden Hazard will be missing until September after he suffered a fractured ankle in Belgium training on Sunday.

Hazard underwent emergency surgery yesterday in London.

And he moved quickly to reassure fans he is OK, tweeting: “Everything went well with my ankle operation, now I start the road to recovery! I will be stronger. Thank you for your support!!"

A bed-ridden Hazard, 26, gives a positive thumbs up to the camera while in hospital.

His right leg is secured in a heavy cast but the former Lille ace looks happy enough.

Chelsea confirmed: “Eden Hazard successfully underwent surgery today after sustaining a fracture to his right ankle while training with the Belgian national team. He is expected to return to training in approximately three months."
